I generally work on a project basis to help solve a defined problem in a fixed time, and I’m usually working on two or three different projects at a time. The organisations I work with frequently want to deal with difficult challenges – often in areas including:
Business strategy & Innovation [more]
Product management [more]
User experience & Interaction design [more]
Project & Programme management [more]
I always try to bring a particular mindset – the Conceptual Simplicity way. It starts by asking “what’s really the problem here?” and “can we re-express it to make it easier to solve?”. Then we ask “what sources of knowledge and thinking can we apply to solve the problem?”. Finally we decide “how do we frame and communicate the answer in a way that makes it compelling and actionable?”. And then we do it.
